Mothers Mourning

To me this drawing is an abstract version of the idea of mother nature. With her entire body she grasps the head of a tiger, mourning the loss of of it’s life. Strings trail from the tigers head, the last remaining connections to it’s former being. Often when I try to draw more intimate and sensitive moments or scenes they always seem to be corny. But I like this one.

I recently went to Brussels for the exhibition A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF UNCERTAINTIES at the AA Docks featuring prominent artists such as James Jean and Kent Williams. It was my first time seeing either of their works in person and was very impressive and inspiring. This is a drawing I did on the train back to Amsterdam.

Where The Wild Things Are

One of my favorite childhood story books is now coming to life thanks to Spike Jonze. I am so excited I almost don’t care about summer anymore. I said “almost”. There’s no trailer yet but judging by the photo’s it looks amazing. These are the kind of films I wait for. The monster in this photo also reminds me Totoro from My Neighbor Totoro. Funny how the last two posts both have animal costumes in them.
